My wife and I got some icecream the other night. She order moca icecream and I teased her for breaking the WOW and she smiled and said that icecream is not a hot drink. I love her.

Not at all, although it will save you a sore head in the morning!

I think the range is limited… but it’s still enjoyable enough now and then. Allows me to engage better socially with drinkers amongst other things.

Forgot to mention there are some nice NA wheatbeers out there. If you like wheatbeer and it is an acquired taste.

See I don’t drink decaff tea and coffee, but drink NA beer although some do. It’s personal preference. (And wonderful redbush/rooibos solves that issue nicely)

I have an embarassingly low tolerance myself (which is one of my problems with alcohol), but some of my Japanese friends made me look like the opposite. Probably they could do the same to me after years of abstinence.

Japanese beer isn’t up to much (nor American I’m afraid), but the Japanese true to form, probably have excellent alcohol free beer I expect.

    Anyone tried alcohol free wine?

I’ve had Sutter fré. It’s OK. I’m not huge on wine. It wasnt like what I’ve had in France. But little is. :/

My Japanese friends always got rosy cheeks after half a beer. However I never met a Korean that couldn’t drink me under the table. Go figure.

There was an Asahi brewery in one of my mission areas.

I miss asahi. It went well with sushi. I never liked sake. Especially hot. Ugh. (Un)fortunately I was being “good” when I went to Japan. The worst I drank was some mugi-cha that happened to have some real tea in it. And some amazake at a shrine on new years. Supposed to have been n/a but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. The amazake was delicious…even warm. And I’ve left mugi-cha out of this whole discussion till now. I love mugi-cha…

…But honestly, nothing beats fish and chips and draught ale in a random pub in London. That’s about as religious of an experience as I’ve ever had. :)

Last night I had a meeting and my wife asked me to stop on my way home and get her some WoW (moca) icecream . I am glad we can joke about it.

Didn’t Pres McKay say it was alright to eat it, not to drink it? Anyway this is definition territory which is not what this thread is about.

A lot of coffee flavored stuff probably has no coffee in it… anymore than a lot of orange, mint and strawberry ones flavor things contain their respective ingredients. That’s artificial ingredients for you…

There’s a lot of fake stuff out there in the food world. I had some coconut and pineapple juice the other day, only to find out that it had never seen a coconut (it did contain pineapple) – I missed the word “flavor” on the packaging.

Despite your homemade ice cream, I’m sure there must have been a way to have your coffee cake and eat it without offending the Wow in any conceivable way… This is why Io started this thread. I believe there are decent alternatives out there, so we can enjoy things like them without getting bogged down in issues surrounding the wow.

    Few favorites of mine

    * Supermalt (Malt drink, v-popular in Africa / West Indies)

    * Birch Beer (Like Root Beer but ‘stronger’)

    * Chai Tea (not sure if thats WoW compatible??)

I finally got around to trying rooibos/redbush. I think I have my tea replacement. :)

It may be that I haven’t had the real thing in a while but I swear it tasted just like it…. With a different aftertaste perhaps but close enough. I like that it has the health benefits and antioxidants like tea as well.

I’m going to try an earl grey version when it gets here in the mail. If it resembles the real thing at all I will be ecstatic.

“chai” is a chinese name for “tea” — and it is not WoW compatible according to current church policy.
