It is a bit of a hard question to answer only one choice from the above, because the church grows with modern revelation. And that can mean many things.
To the fundamentalist…it could mean it is currently in apostasy moving from what was once pure.
To the purist…it could mean it was true then and is still true now
To the non-believer…it could mean it isn’t true and never was or why would it keep changing?
To the skeptic…it could mean it is as close as it can get but still isn’t 100% true
There are some parts of the church that I feel more optimistic about than others, so one response for how I feel about the whole buffet is hard to say.
I voted #5 because I take the Brother of Jared approach to how God deals with us. There can be many paths to get to where we need to go, if we offer up some ideas, He can bless them and say, “sure…that will work. Now that we’ve established that…those commit to it are gonna be held to it”.
I seem to see the Spirit in many things done in the church, many inspiring stories and good results of people trying to come close to God. It is why I continue to believe it is true…although as Roy points out about what “true” means…true means something very different to me today than it did 5 years ago. But I think I’ve mostly navigated through that transition to be OK with it the way I see it.
